On January 31st the Father gave me the great gift of professing my first vows in our community. The Gospel I chose for the Mass was from Mathew where Peter cries out to Jesus, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water." and Jesus replies, "Come." Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus. What happened between Peter and Jesus on the water describes what professing vows was like to me. That day, I experienced Him calling me further out into the unknown, into the mystery of this love for me. The grace of first vows was for me another invitation from the Lord to let go of everything, every fear, worry, old ways of thinking and to put out into the "deep water" and walk towards Him. And just like Peter, I too wanted to jump out of the boat and wald towards Him, not because one necessarily knows what awaits you out on the water, but like Peter I wanted to answer the Lord´s call because I heard the one who knows and loves me deeply call out to me, "Come. . .".
Here is Sr. Gianna Mara in her habit with the whole community.
Here is everybody praying for her. What a beautiful moment.
